Unilever merged Pond's with HLL. Merging all Unilever companies in India into a single mega firm was what the Anglo-Dutch parent had wanted as the ultimate objective. Merger of Pond's with HLL completed this process.
HLL's takeover of Tomco and its subsequent merger with HLL is a particularly apt example (soaps and detergents division).
