About Indian रू

Indian Rupee gets a new symbol and coupled with international community just like Dollar, Euro and Pound, India gets a new symbol for its currency Rupee. Indian government has uncovered a symbol of its currency, the rupee, a move that aims to place the aim of the third economic power in Asia on the same track as the dollar, euro and pounds. This symbol conceived around the letter “R” and drawn from the Latin alphabet and calligraphy used in Hindi Devanagari. The euro was the last currency that had a symbol in 1999.
The new symbol, designed by Bombay IIT post-graduate D Udaya Kumar, was approved by the cabinet reflecting that the Indian currency, backed by an over-trillion dollar economy, was finally making its presence felt on the international market.
Earlier user used to type “Rs.” as a symbol of Indian Rupee currency. However we have got a new symbol but it will take around two years to get this symbol to be included in ‘Unicode Standard’ as per the Indian government officials.
Only after few days of revealing new symbol for Indian currency, We  have developed a font which includes new symbol of Indian Rupee.

While symbols like Rs and रू are commonly used to represent the Indian Rupee, these are no official currency signs and therefore the Government of India has now announced a public contest to pick up a sign that will represent the currency of India.
You may send the symbol on an A-4 size paper in black and white print and  that the size of the final currency symbol design should not be smaller than 36 sq inches.
The symbol has to be either in the Indian National Language Script or a visual representation but should be applicable to the standard computer keyboard. The Government also wants to ensure that your Indian Rupee design represents the historical and cultural ethos of India.
